Experience & Background

In 2005, Trudy began her counseling career at a Christian retreat center in Colorado (Crossroads Counseling), learning Brief Intensive Therapy — working with clients one or two weeks at a time, three hours a day. She quickly discovered that this immersive format was far more effective for "the hard issues" than traditional 50-minute hourly sessions.

In 2010, she encountered Dr. Peter Levine's work on the trauma-body connection, then found the Splankna Therapy Institute — known for "redeeming mind-body work for the Body of Christ." The experience was life-changing and deepened her understanding of how body, mind, emotions, and spirit are all interconnected.

In 2012, Trudy stepped out on her own and began hosting her own Brief Intensive counseling weeks. She worked at Sanctuary Retreat Center near Buena Vista, Colorado, and traveled to host intensive weeks in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (A'nesis Asbury Retreat Center) and Phoenix, Arizona — earning professional licensure in all three states.

Seeing the need to serve trauma clients more deeply, Trudy pursued every trauma training available — becoming an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, a Level One EFT Therapist, and studying EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Grief Recovery Systems. She also studied Biblical formation and trauma from a biblical perspective at Ashland Seminary.

In 2019, she completed her Doctorate in Biblical Counseling from Masters International School of Divinity. Out of her years of training, the Emet Trauma Resolution tool was born — a stand-alone protocol grounded in Scripture that helps clients identify false refuge systems blocking spiritual growth and impacting important relationships.

As part of her own testimony, Dr. Trudy has a particular passion for helping women recover from toxic relationships — through resources like the Trying to Decide Handbook and through the A'nesis Retreat and Counseling Sabbatical intensive weeks.

The Emet Trauma Resolution Tool emettherapy.com

Out of Trudy's years of training and clinical experience, the Emet Trauma Resolution tool was born. Emet (the Hebrew word for truth) is a stand-alone protocol designed to bring freedom to clients by helping them identify false refuge systems that are blocking spiritual growth and impacting important relationships.

Completely grounded in Scripture yet incorporating powerful concepts from trauma research and physiology, Emet is both a stand-alone program and a core component of the A'nesis Retreat and Counseling Sabbatical intensive weeks.

Therapeutic Approach

Trudy's work is rooted in the conviction that healing is possible, clarity is achievable, and that faith and clinical rigor belong together.

Brief Intensive Format

Rather than weekly 50-minute sessions, Trudy's signature format is immersive — working with clients for multiple hours over several days. This concentrated approach creates breakthroughs that can take months to reach in traditional therapy.

Faith-Aware & Biblically Grounded

Trudy integrates a Christian worldview throughout her clinical work — not as a formula, but as a framework for meaning, resilience, and hope. Her Doctorate in Biblical Counseling and her study under mentors like Graham Cooke anchor every method she uses.

Trauma-Informed & Whole-Person

Trained in EMDR, IFS, EFT, Splankna, and the Emet Trauma Resolution protocol she developed, Trudy addresses the full person — body, mind, emotions, and spirit — with particular expertise in trauma bonds, coercive control, and relational harm.
